Toyota Land Cruiser Safari 4x4 with Pop Up Roof
A purpose built 4x4 safari vehicle with a pop up viewing roof, high ground clearance and professional driver guide support for wildlife circuits across Kenya.
Built for your kind of journey
Toyota Land Cruiser Safari 4x4 is the primary Courtesywide vehicle for private safaris, wildlife circuits and demanding park routes where a normal road SUV or passenger van is not the right tool. The safari conversion is built around the strength of the Land Cruiser platform and adds features that matter in the bush, including a raised or pop up roof for standing game viewing, high ground clearance, heavy duty suspension, accessible windows and a cabin arranged around wildlife photography rather than ordinary commuter transport. For safari use, Courtesywide should normally quote this vehicle with a professional safari driver guide. The driver remains responsible for navigation, park and conservancy procedures, road conditions, wildlife viewing etiquette and the daily operating plan. A typical customized vehicle carries around seven guests plus the driver guide, although exact seating must always be confirmed against the allocated unit. For photographic trips or clients carrying significant luggage, six guests can provide a better balance of space and viewing comfort. The pop up roof is one of the most important differences between this vehicle and a normal Toyota Prado or road going Land Cruiser. When conditions and park rules allow, guests can stand safely inside the vehicle and view through the roof opening. This improves visibility across grassland, allows easier photography and reduces the need for guests to compete for one side window. Many safari conversions also include charging points or an inverter, radio communication, a cool box, first aid equipment, two spare wheels or heavy duty recovery equipment and reinforced suspension. Exact equipment should be confirmed on the allocated Courtesywide vehicle. This vehicle is the preferred option for routes such as Nairobi to Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo, Samburu, Ol Pejeta, Lake Nakuru and multi park circuits. Four wheel drive is particularly valuable on rough access roads, wet season black cotton soil, conservancy tracks and less developed safari routes. It should not be confused with the Toyota Prado executive SUV category. The Prado is excellent for road transfers and premium movement, while the safari Land Cruiser is configured specifically around game viewing and bush travel. For pricing, current 2026 Kenya market references place a safari Land Cruiser with pop up roof from about KSh 30,000 per day, with some operators listing lower vehicle and driver rates and others quoting higher all inclusive rates when fuel and driver guide costs are bundled. Courtesywide should therefore treat KSh 30,000 as a starting reference rather than a fixed universal price. The final quotation must clearly state whether fuel, driver guide, driver allowance, driver accommodation, vehicle park entry, driver park entry, airport pickup, excess mileage and cross border permits are included.
