5-Day Amboseli, Tsavo West & Tsavo East Private Safari

Depart Nairobi after breakfast or the agreed pick-up time and travel south toward Amboseli. Reach the selected lodge or camp for check-in and lunch where timing permits, then begin an afternoon private game drive. Amboseli’s mix of grass plains, acacia woodland, marshes and lake-basin habitat supports varied wildlife, while elephants are one of the park’s signature attractions. If cloud conditions cooperate, the southern horizon may open toward Mount Kilimanjaro. Return to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.

Spend a full day exploring Amboseli with your private driver-guide. Early morning is valuable for cooler conditions, wildlife movement and possible mountain views. Work through the open plains and wetland areas, allowing time for elephants, general game and birds. Visit Observation Hill when appropriate for elevated views across the park. Guests can add a Maasai cultural visit, birding focus, dedicated photography session or lodge-arranged sundowner, all confirmed separately. Return for dinner and a second night in Amboseli.

Leave Amboseli after breakfast and travel toward Tsavo West through the southern safari corridor. Enter the park and continue to the selected accommodation, with wildlife viewing incorporated according to gate and lodge location. Tsavo West changes the visual character of the safari: lava flows, wooded hills, open savannah and spring-fed habitats replace Amboseli’s flatter wetlands. Visit Mzima Springs if route and timing allow, then continue with an afternoon game drive before dinner and overnight.

Begin with an early Tsavo West game drive. Depending on the selected lodge and current route, include a scenic stop around Shetani Lava Flow or another approved viewpoint before crossing toward Tsavo East. After entering Tsavo East, the landscape broadens into semi-arid plains and riverine systems. Continue with an afternoon game drive, watching for elephants carrying the park’s characteristic red dust, large herbivores, predators and birdlife. Check in at the selected Tsavo East lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

Start early for a final Tsavo East game drive, using the morning hours for wildlife and landscape photography. Where routing permits, the guide can work toward the Galana River corridor or selected scenic points before exiting the park. Continue by road to Nairobi for drop-off at the agreed hotel or airport. Guests continuing to the coast can request a Mombasa or Diani finish instead; that modification is costed separately.
