Tour Overview

About this experience

This six-day private safari is designed for international travellers who want wildlife variety and a stronger conservation story than a conventional single-circuit safari. Begin in Samburu, where the Ewaso Nyiro river system and dry northern landscapes support wildlife that differs from Kenya’s southern savannahs. Continue into Laikipia for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to major rhino conservation programmes and Kenya’s chimpanzee sanctuary. The itinerary gives Ol Pejeta meaningful time instead of treating it as a rushed roadside stop, allowing the standard conservancy experience to be supplemented with additional conservation activities where available. Finish at Lake Nakuru National Park for rhinos, birding and scenic viewpoints before returning to Nairobi. The route is inspired by current six-day private itineraries marketed through established safari platforms, while the details have been rebuilt for Courtesywide’s database architecture: destination links, optional activities, itinerary days, inclusions, exclusions and USD quotation logic remain separate and reusable.

Your itinerary

Samburu Lunch & Dinner

Depart Nairobi and travel north through Kenya’s central highlands toward Samburu. As the route progresses, the scenery becomes drier and more rugged. Arrive at the selected lodge or tented camp, check in and take an afternoon private game drive where timing allows. The Ewaso Nyiro river system is a key focus for wildlife movement, and the wider Samburu region is known for distinctive dry-country species as well as elephants and predators. Return for dinner and overnight.

Samburu Full Board

Spend the full day on private game drives in the Samburu ecosystem. Your guide can concentrate on riverine areas, open dryland habitat and locations where northern species are being reported. Samburu is particularly associated with animals such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich, alongside elephants and large predators. Optional additions include a Samburu cultural visit, private photography session, guided nature walk where permitted or lodge-arranged sundowner. Return to camp/lodge for your second night.

Optional experiences
Samburu Guided Nature Walk 1.5–3 hours

A guided walking experience in a lodge, conservancy or approved area where walking is permitted, focusing on tracks, plants, landscapes and smaller wildlife.

Available upon request
Samburu Sundowner 1–2 hours

A scenic sunset refreshment stop arranged by the selected camp or lodge in an approved location.

Available upon request
Laikipia Full Board

After breakfast, drive south toward Laikipia and Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Arrive for lunch or check-in depending on the selected property, then begin an afternoon conservancy experience. Ol Pejeta combines Big Five wildlife viewing with major conservation programmes. The afternoon can include a general private game drive and selected standard visitor points before returning to the lodge or camp. Guests interested in deeper conservation access can request additional specialist activities during quotation.

Optional experiences
Ol Pejeta Conservancy Game Drive Half day or full day

A guided wildlife drive in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, selected from Nanyuki or Laikipia itineraries. Conservancy entry and vehicle arrangements should be costed separately from accommodation.

Available upon request
Chimpanzee Sanctuary Visit 1–2 hours

A conservation-focused visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary within Ol Pejeta, normally combined with a conservancy visit and subject to current visitor arrangements.

Available upon request
Laikipia Conservation Experience 2–4 hours

A behind-the-scenes conservation-focused activity arranged through the selected conservancy or lodge, potentially covering wildlife monitoring, community conservation or conservation operations.

Available upon request
Laikipia Full Board

Dedicate the day to Ol Pejeta. Explore the conservancy by private vehicle and spend time understanding its conservation work. Current Ol Pejeta visitor information includes the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary within standard entry and highlights the conservancy’s role in protecting the last two northern white rhinos as well as a major black-rhino population. The exact sequence is planned around published sanctuary hours, wildlife movement and any specialist experiences booked in advance. Return to the selected accommodation for dinner and a second night in the Laikipia area.

Nakuru Full Board

Leave Laikipia after breakfast and travel toward Nakuru. Enter Lake Nakuru National Park for an afternoon private game drive or, depending on travel time, check in first and enter later. The park offers lake scenery, varied birdlife, viewpoints and important black and white rhino conservation. The guide adapts the route to current wildlife reports and available time before returning to the selected Nakuru accommodation for dinner.

Nakuru Breakfast

Begin with an early game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, taking advantage of cooler morning conditions for wildlife and photography. Explore suitable lake-edge and woodland areas before exiting the park and driving back to Nairobi.
